Water Temperature & Trend

There is no official National Weather Service or National Geological Survey temperature gauge in Lake Gaston but there are several nearby.

The temperatures can vary considerably from gauge to gauge, from day-readings to night-readings, and where in or on the lake the temperature is taken. It is frequently 5 to 10 degrees warmer in the coves that in the main lake; and frequently 5 to 10 degrees cooler at depths of 5 to ten feet.

The temperature we show on our website is as close to the average as we can find.

Shown below are two nearby gauges. The first is downriver from Lake Gaston (and usually much warmer) and the second upriver in Kerr/Buggs Island Lake (usually much cooler).
