1. Largemouth Bass: Bass are active in the warming water, especially in shallow coves and around boat docks. Use rattling lipless crankbaits, plastic worms, or topwater lures like Devil’s Horse near points and stump fields. Target depths from 3 to 8 feet with a medium to fast retrieve.
2. Striped Bass: Striper fishing remains solid with live shad and bucktails producing the best results. Focus on the upper lake and areas near the dam where shad are schooling. Casting near banks and structure in 10 to 20 feet of water is productive.
3. Crappie: Crappie fishing continues to improve around brushpiles, bridge pilings, and boat docks. Small minnows and jigs fished in 8 to 12 feet of water are effective.
4. Catfish: Catfish are actively feeding near the bottom. Live shad fished on or near the lakebed in deeper holes and channels can yield good catches.

With mostly clear skies and mild temperatures, fishing conditions are favorable this week. The gradual warming trend is encouraging fish to move into pre-spawn positions, especially bass in the back ends of creeks and coves. Light winds make for excellent boat control and presentation. Take advantage of the stable water levels and focus on shallow structure during low-light periods for the best success. Enjoy the start of spring fishing at Lake Gaston!
