Charlie Taylor's Fishing Report - September 8, 2017

Bass fishing is good in Lake Gaston, with most of the better fish being taken from shallow stump fields, adjacent to the main river channel. Other patterns are boat dock brush piles on plastic worm, main lake points on deep-diving crankbaits and grassbeds in shallow water on Horny Toads.

Stripers are scattered and running in small schools. Below the dam, lots of stripers in the 12-20 pound class are taking live shad.

Anglers jigging half ounce Hopkins Spoons are cleaning house on white perch. Rebel Pop-R;s, with crappie jig droppers on the rear hook are also effective.
