A bill to prohibit internet service providers from prioritizing or blocking certain websites based on content or hosting platform was killed Tuesday in a House subcommittee. The House Commerce and Labor subcommittee voted 5-0 against the bill, with one abstention.


The State is telling residents and visitors at Lake Gaston that it’s time to slow down. The State implemented a new 45-mile-per-hour speed limit on Highway 903 that includes Eaton’s Ferry Bridge and they expect it to be followed.


Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said the region’s drug problems take some people by surprise. “There are some in our community who don’t believe we have a drug problem,” Tripp said.
