This camera is located on the south side of the main channel of Lake Gaston between the entrances to Smith Creek and Hawtree Creek (36.5545503; -78.1295178). It faces north. The image is updated about every three minutes.
At night, the image is dark and there is very little to see. But if you look closely, you may see the lights nearly a mile away on the other side of the lake and sometimes, if the lake is calm, you can see their reflection on the water.

Lake Gaston is part of the Roanoke River and lies along the Virginia - North Carolina border between Interstate 85 and Interstate 95. It is about 35 miles long and covers 20,000 acres. This webcam is aimed north and is located at the marker on the map above. It looks out on the lake at buoy 21.
