Lake Gaston hit by ‘snow bomb’

Unseasonably cold temperatures set up the Lake Gaston region for an unusual snowfall last week. The National Weather Service out of Wakefield, Va. said that a strong low pressure system off the coast of North Carolina and bitter cold temperatures already in the region provided the perfect mix to drop between five and seven inches of dry, powdery snow on the area Thursday night and the early hours of Friday morning.
