On Lake Gaston the best action is down lake. Poe's, Pretty and Lee's Creeks are good areas to fish. Bass can be caught by crankbaiting main channel points
and fishing jig 'n pig around rocks and stumps in 4-10 feet of water. Best crankbait colors are shad and silver.

Crappie action in Lake Gaston is excellent with fish in the 1-2 pound class being taken on small minnows, fished around solid structures and submerged bushes, 12-14 feet down.

Crankbaits and plastic worms are the baits of choice for the active largemouth bass. Most of the fish are found around concentrations of shad.

In Lake Gaston riprap along roadways and bridges are good spots to fish, with topwater prop baits, plastic worms and grubs. The lake is cooling and the fish are moving into shallow water.

Bass fishing in Lake Gaston is good, with most of the better fish being taken from shallow stump fields, adjacent to the main river channel. Other patterns are boat dock brush piles on plastic worm, main lake points on deep- diving crankbaits and grassbeds in shallow water on Horny Toads.

Crappie are holding in 12-15 feet of water, hitting live minnows and tiny jigs. Largemouth bass are holding on main lake points and boat docks, adjacent to creek channels.
